The Australian Bureau of Meteorology isAustralia's national weather, climate and water agency. Its expertise and services assist Australians in dealing with the harsh realities of their natural environment, including drought, floods, fires, storms, tsunami and tropical cyclones. Through regular forecasts, warnings, monitoring and advice spanning the Australian region and Antarctic territory, the Bureau provides one of the most fundamental and widely used services of government.

Role in HAIC

  • Leader of WP24 Microphysical properties of the high IWC regions using flight tests bringing radar expertise & microphysical and dynamical retrievals using radar observations.
  • Participation in WP21, WP22 and WP23 (radar expertise - integration and operation of RASTA cloud radar in Falcon 20 & processing and release of airborne cloud radar data) and in WP33 (expertise in radar-lidar synergy, ice microphysical retrieval techniques; analysis of the CloudSat radar and CALIPSO signatures associated with high IWC regions in collaboration with CNRS).
